Believe it or not, I encountered this in an Italian text I'm translating. After a bit of work on the context I realised it was someone in Milan trying to be cool. They were trying to say "fund-raising".
Almost as bad as the doctor in Florence who told me I should go for a "cieappe" (a check-up).
